Polish sausage and cabbage stew (in Polish Kapusta z kiełbasą) – Perfect comfort food. We know it’s simple to prepare, but sooo good:)

Yield: 12-16 Servings

Ingredients

2 onions, chopped

3lbs Polish sausage

1 small head green cabbage (~1-1.5lbs), coarsely chopped

4 new potatoes, quartered and peeled

4 cups chicken broth

1-2 teaspoons coarse ground sea salt

1/2 lemon, juiced
1-2 teaspoons caraway seeds
Directions

Slice the Polish sausage into 1-inch pieces.

Cabbage With Polish Sausage

Add the sausage and sliced onion to a large stock pot over medium heat. Stir periodically but cook until the onions start to slightly brown.

Add the cabbage, stir to combine and cover the pot. Continue to cook everything until the cabbage becomes limp.

Add potatoes and 2 cups of chicken broth. Bring to a boil, cover and simmer until the potatoes are tender.

Add the remaining chicken broth and lemon juice to the pot. Bring to a boil and cook uncovered until the sauce thickens.

Polish Sausage and Cabbage

Serve warm, seasoned with sea salt and caraway seeds, to taste.
